Ashley's Backyard is an outdoor venue in Laveen, southwest of Phoenix, with South Mountain sitting on the horizon behind the ceremony. Everything happens outside, under a covered ramada and across a paver courtyard strung with lights, and the venue itself tells couples to start the ceremony sixty to ninety minutes before sunset, which is the single best piece of advice any venue gives. That window is when the desert light does the work for you. Two changing rooms are on site, and packages bring a day of coordinator, bartender, tables, chairs and linens. There is a vintage truck on the property that most couples end up using for portraits. We have photographed, filmed, DJed and run photo booths here, and after dark the string lights are the only ambient light there is.
