The Graily is the restored 1911 South Ward schoolhouse in downtown Waxahachie, and it is one of the most photogenic historic wedding venues in Ellis County. Original brick walls, stained hardwood floors and six two-tier dimmable iron chandeliers give the main hall a warm, lived-in glow that needs very little help, and the two original 1911 classrooms with crystal chandeliers make excellent getting-ready and cocktail spaces. Outside, the fully turfed courtyard sits under mature magnolia trees. We have photographed weddings here and know exactly how the brick reads on camera, where the light falls in the hall through the afternoon, and how much our uplighting and dancing-on-a-cloud effects add once the chandeliers come down for the reception.
